There is nothing better than being in a ski town during the month of December. The holiday lights glimmering off the snow is stunning and makes you feel as though you are in a Christmas card.

Even for those visiting, the sense of community in these cozy mountain towns makes you feel right at home. No matter where you are in the days leading up to the 25th, you will be sure to see Santa suits all over the slopes.

From torchlight parades to skiing Santas, it seems every resort has something fun planned for the holiday season.

Santa Ski and Crawl is the big event that happens for the holiday season. On Christmas Eve you will also see Santa in his sleigh getting pulled down the mountain by a snowcat.

The Annual torchlight parade and fireworks takes place right on the mountain. A procession of skiers carve down the mountain while holding glowing torches.

In Mid-December skiers and snowboarder have the opportunity to get a free lift ticket for the day when they come dressed as Santa or Mrs. Claus. Only the first 75 people to arrive in costume at the Garibaldi Lift Company get a free pass.

Sunday River

On the east coast, nobody touches Sunday River in terms of Christmas spirit. So much so that hundreds if not thousands of Santa’s show up annually on December 8th to raise money for The River Fund, a local educational and community based non-profit.

What People are Saying

Traveled to Japan ~ East and Southeast Asia

We had a fabulous time. The hotels were great as were the tours. We enjoyed the private guides best. Every one of our private guides was fantastic and made sure that we got to do what we (Andy!) wanted to do. Our guide in Arashiyama changed things around so that Andy could go to the Monkey Park, which was not on our original itinerary, but something he decided he wanted to do. She even climbed the mountain with him after settling me in a coffee shop with a cup of coffee!! Summer, our guide in Shanghai, was fantastic, and even helped get us checked in at the airport when we left. The tours themselves were wonderful and we got a good taste of the cities we visited. Both of us are planning on returning to Japan and China again sometime in the future and I will certainly keep you in mind when the time comes. By the way, the tip that we probably appreciated the most was to fly premium economy. I don't know if we would have survived that trip if we hadn't!!

Thanks for your help!!

Loved this vacation with my family.

Excellent experience, the trip was fantastic, we didn’t have to worry about anything.
